In my role as music editor of Sound Screen, I decided to propose something I've been meaning to follow up for a long time: Spotify playlists for people to get into a genre of music they'd usually write off, or haven't really listened to in any depth. The first, which uses basic Photoshop jobs on my behalf etc (dusting off my old skills), is all about funk and written/compiled by myself, though I hope others take my idea and use it to introduce others to their favourite artists.
It also gave me chance to break my record of 16 full articles in a month - one with 28 days too, which I'm seeing as a good achievement.

inthenews.co.uk: Van Persie could return at start of April
In an effort to prove my abilities to myself and others when professionally addressing my one major hobby - sport - I requested to cover a couple of things at short notice and, a few hours later, I turned up two articles, this being the first.

inthenews.co.uk: Music review - At Loch Shiel (Trademark)
After three years of hard graft on this release, Trademark are hoping that their ambient blend of pop and electro will come off and win over new fans to a band who, it has to be said, have worked hard to build up to this moment.

inthenews.co.uk: Music review - Nerve Up (Lonelady)
For my next review, I had a look at one of the more promising artists, by all accounts, to fully enter the music scene this year. Will she sink or swim?

inthenews.co.uk: Premier League Playoffs: Good idea? Bad idea?
In this article for inthenews.co.uk, I had the chance to discuss the much talked-about issue of a possible Premier League playoff for the final spot to get into the Champion's League. Again teaming up with Alistair Potter, who I've worked with for both Super Bowl previews for this year and last, I take the side of being pro-playoff.

inthenews.co.uk: Super Bowl preview - New Orleans Saints
After collaborating for a similar piece last year, I took the opportunity to preview the Super Bowl's underdog contender: the New Orleans Saints. As a big fan of the NFL and the sport of American football in general, it was a piece I was able to write off the top of my head, though looking for statistics and researching a few of the finer points helped me improve on the previous year's effort.
